Why would a private PPO be cheaper for me?
Because it’s priced on your health, not your income. Healthy trainers often underwrite well and pay less than full marketplace price — while getting a wider network. We confirm by comparing both.
I’m 1099 at a gym — do I count as self-employed?
Yes. As a 1099 trainer you buy your own coverage, and you have the same private and marketplace options as any self-employed person. We’ll walk you through both.
Can I enroll outside open enrollment?
Private PPO plans enroll year-round. Marketplace requires open enrollment or a qualifying life event.
Do you cover studio owners with a small team?
Yes — we can look at individual coverage for you plus options if you want to help cover a few staff.
RKA Insurance Advisors is an independent, licensed health insurance brokerage (NPN 19540130). We compare ACA Marketplace and private, medically underwritten nationwide PPO plans. Private plans are priced on health and subject to medical underwriting — not all applicants qualify. We do not offer Medicare.
